North Okaloosa STEM teachers bring home 2017 TEAMS

North Okaloosa STEM teachers Yolanda Porter and Greg Baker were each recognized and presented with a $5,000 TEAMS award this week at the Crestview Area Chamber of Commerce breakfast.

The Teaching Excellence Awards in Math and Science (TEAMS) program recognizes high school teachers of math, science and allied technologies for excellent teaching as they work to raise performance and interest in STEM. In 2016, the program was expanded to recognize teachers making strides in elementary and middle grades introducing emerging technologies such as robotics. In three years, TEAMS has awarded over $45,000 to STEM teachers in North Okaloosa county. This program was made possible through partnership from Crestview Area Chamber of Commerce and the Okaloosa County School District and sponsorship from Emerald Coast Aviation, Compass Bank, TELEFORCE, and Merrill Lynch.
